Manufactured from high-grade European steel and tailored to replicate traditional timber door profiles, our Heritage Security Doors combine classic styling with modern security. Each door is made to meet the demands of heritage planning consent, maintaining original proportions, mouldings, and finishes—right down to RAL-matched colour specifications.

Behind the façade, every detail is engineered for durability and resistance. All doors are fabricated by ISO-certified welders, zinc-primed and powder coated to prevent corrosion and ensure longevity. Full-length stainless steel hinges and concealed magnetic locks maintain the door’s period look while delivering modern access control and tamper resistance.

Whether restoring a Georgian townhouse, securing a communal entrance in a conservation area, or upgrading a housing association estate, MultiSteel’s Heritage range provides seamless integration of security and style. With custom options for glazing, panels, arch details and hardware, we tailor every door to match the architectural character of your building—without compromise.

  • All heritage building doors are manufactured in accordance with BS 8300-2:2018 and Approved Document Part M, with full compliance for listed building applications, conservation areas, and period properties. Our doors meet conservation officer requirements and are designed to satisfy planning permission conditions for Grade I, Grade II*, and Grade II listed properties.

Fabrication processes follow BS EN ISO 15614-13:2023 and BS EN ISO 9606-1:2017, with full quality assurance records and inspection documentation supplied as part of the Operations & Maintenance manual for listed building installations.

Final working drawings incorporating heritage detailing and conservation requirements are provided for conservation officer and specifier review and approval before production begins.

  • Our heritage building doors are constructed from high-tensile cold-rolled seamless steel sections, engineered to blend seamlessly with period architecture whilst offering superior strength and durability. We do not use aluminium, plastic, or folded sheet materials at any stage of production—ensuring authentic heritage preservation.

    • Main framework is fabricated from 100 × 50 × 2mm mild steel box sections, fully welded and ground to a smooth finish, then finished with engineered wood cladding to replicate period timber appearance and satisfy conservation requirements.

    • Period panel infills use 2mm European rolled steel modular sections, providing structural integrity and refined appearance whilst replicating Georgian, Victorian, or bespoke architectural detailing specific to your listed building.

    • Glazing beads (where conservation requirements permit) are formed from 20 × 20mm steel hollow sections, fixed internally with tamper-resistant stainless steel screws or rivets, concealed within period-appropriate mouldings.

    • Solid infill panels are finished with engineered wood cladding, internally secured using fabricated box cassettes and stainless steel security fixings, allowing customisation of finish, grain, and colour to match heritage property aesthetics.

  • Each heritage door component is shot-blasted, zinc primed, and finished with high-quality polyester powder coating or period-appropriate paint finishes. This multi-stage corrosion protection is essential for listed building doors exposed to heritage environments, weathering, and the demands of period properties.

Our standard offering includes any RAL Classic colour, heritage-specific finishes (including wood grain effects to complement timber aesthetic), and bespoke paint colours to match your Grade I, II*, or II listed building. Interior and exterior finishes can be coordinated to preserve architectural heritage and satisfy conservation requirements.

  • All heritage building doors are fitted with full-length stainless steel continuous hinges with a 12mm knuckle and double staggered fixing configuration, finished to complement period architecture. Hinges are secured using M5 stainless steel anti-vandal screws for long-lasting performance whilst maintaining the aesthetic integrity of listed properties. Optional traditional hinge styles and period-appropriate hardware are available to satisfy conservation officer requirements.

  • We install LCN 4111 heavy-duty surface-mounted closers on heritage building doors, featuring anti-vandal covers and period-appropriate finishes that complement listed building aesthetics. Closers are compliant with accessibility standards for listed properties:

    • Opening force not exceeding 30N from 0° to 30°, and 22.5N from 30° to 60°.

    • Closers are installed to a minimum 100mm frame head to allow future upgrades to automated operation where required, with concealed mechanisms to preserve heritage appearance.

  • Each heritage building door includes the following specification:

    • Offset D handle or period-appropriate door furniture (solid stainless steel or brass-finish, customisable length) mounted at heights suited to listed building proportions and conservation requirements

    • Grade 304 DP1 stainless steel kick plates, fitted internally and externally, finished in period-appropriate style to complement heritage architecture

    • Push plates and anti-vandal security fixings throughout, concealed within architectural detailing where conservation requirements dictate

    • All components compliant with BS 8300 (2009) for inclusive design and conservation officer approval for Grade I, II*, and II listed buildings.

  • All heritage building doors are fitted with twin or triple Assa Abloy/Securitron magnetic locks, side-fixed and fully concealed to preserve period aesthetics. These locks are integrated with centralised access systems and controlled via secure fob entry—removing the need for visible mechanical components that would compromise listed building authenticity.

Traditional period-appropriate locks and multi-point locking systems are also available to satisfy conservation requirements. Smart access control can be seamlessly integrated without disrupting heritage appearance.

Internal beading and fixings prevent tampering whilst remaining concealed within architectural detailing, ensuring the door maintains its period integrity and conservation officer approval for your listed property.

  • Where specified for heritage building doors, glazed panels are installed using 3mm glazing tape and quality silicone, secured with period-appropriate steel beading that replicates original mouldings. Laminated, traditional six-over-six, or Georgian-style glazing is available depending on listed building requirements and conservation officer approval. Heritage building doors can be manufactured with custom period detailing and architectural mouldings, preserving the character of Georgian, Victorian, Edwardian, and bespoke period properties whilst maintaining structural strength and security integrity.

Custom architectural detailing includes: arch detailing, period cornicing, period panelling configurations, timber grain effects, and heritage-specific design elements engineered to satisfy Grade I, II*, and II conservation requirements and planning permission conditions.

  • Heritage building door frames are securely fixed into place using M8 metal wall anchors at 600mm intervals (max), installed to preserve period stone and brickwork. All joints are fully welded and ground smooth.

Fixings are fully concealed within wall construction and period mouldings to ensure tamper resistance, maintain conservation integrity, and preserve the aesthetic authenticity of your listed property. Installation methods are designed to satisfy conservation officer requirements and planning permission conditions for Grade I, II*, and II listed buildings.

  • Heritage building door customisation options:
