MultiSteel Delivers Estate-Wide Security Upgrade at Blenheim Gardens
MultiSteel has successfully completed a full-scale security door and access system upgrade at Blenheim Gardens Estate in the London Borough of Lambeth, delivering robust protection across one of the area’s most architecturally distinctive housing developments.
The project involved the design, fabrication and installation of secure steel gates and full-height enclosures across multiple blocks—addressing long-standing issues with unauthorised access, nuisance behaviour, and exposed public interfaces.
Securing communal spaces, without compromising design
Originally designed in the late 1960s under Lambeth’s progressive housing vision, Blenheim Gardens features a fully pedestrianised central layout with open stairwells and multiple public entry points. While intended to promote community, this open design left residents vulnerable to repeated disturbances and security breaches.
MultiSteel was appointed to deliver a complete security solution that could integrate seamlessly into the estate’s modernist architecture—improving safety without compromising visual flow or pedestrian access.
“This wasn’t just about replacing doors. It was about designing a complete, estate-wide access control system tailored to a live, high-density environment,” said James Horan, Managing Director of MultiSteel.
Built in-house. Installed to perform.
Every system was manufactured at MultiSteel’s North London facility by ISO-certified teams and installed on-site by experienced engineers. Key features of the project included:
Full-height stairwell enclosures and secure access gates
Tamper-resistant internal hardware and concealed fixings
Integration with cloud-managed access technology
Custom solutions to accommodate uneven ground levels and structural overhangs
The result is a durable, visually cohesive security system that enhances resident safety, reduces risk, and restores controlled access across all affected areas.
